SLED DOG KENNELS CENTENNIAL EXHIBIT 2022
IN AUGUST 2022, DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE'S SLED DOG KENNELS CELEBRATED THEIR 100TH YEAR OF RUNNING DOGS IN THE PARK. THIS ART SERIES WAS CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS EVENT. NOTE THAT THE DOGHOUSE'S ORIGINAL DISPLAY HAS BEEN UPDATED.
VOLUNTEERING AT THE KENNELS, I INTERACTED WITH ALL THE DOGS IN THE YARD AND UTILIZED PERSONALLY TAKEN REFERENCE PHOTOS AND OFFICIAL NPS PHOTOS FOR IDENTIFYING FACIAL TRACKING AND COLORING PATTERNS TO MATCH EACH DOG'S NATURAL COLOR PROFILE. THE DRAWINGS WERE CREATED AND ARRANGED IN ORDER OF LITTER BIRTH YEAR.

The kennels' manager requested a drawing of a retired sled dog. This drawing was given to a longtime volunteer.
In 2022, the NPS Kennels Centennial Litter was born. At the exhibit creation time, it was not decided which puppies would become NPS sled dogs; this litter was drawn in 2023.
